'Cinco de Mayo' Flamenco Backing Track - 100bpm BackingTrackHQ

Cinco de Mayo / May 5th is rushing up soon as we write. So in honour of that important date, today’s backing track has a ‘Cinco de Mayo’ vibe in the fact that its a cool ‘Spanish’ Flamenco style track.

The track which is called the ‘Flamenco Backing Track in Am’ (how original sez you ), is of course in the key of ‘Am’. It was featured on Backing Track HQ a couple of months back.

But we’ve written and recorded a new instrumental over this backing track and its called ‘Cinco de Mayo’. Its in the style of Santana meets ? .

Slow Country Ballad in G - 100bpm BackingTrackHQ

Slow Country Ballad in G is in a great ‘Country Guitar’ key. It lends itself to this style of playing due to the many open strings which are used. There’s a ‘G Major Pentatonic scale diagram below.

You can play some great twangy open E string runs along with chosen notes from the ‘B’ string.

Here’s a few note about it that were mentioned on the ‘Slow Country Ballad in D’ post. The same rules apply just a different key.

Its great for soloing the G Major Pentatonic scale over. A clean Tone is recommended preferably on a Fender Telecaster, Middle Pickup to get a nice ‘Country Twang’. But a Fender Strat fits in well too.

The key to sounding good over this is to ‘think melodically’. Don’t go for a ‘play as fast as I can over it’. Nope, nice and easy does it.

Try playing double stop 6ths and 4ths over it, they sit in really well.

Effects wise a cool ‘shimmering Reverb’ sounds haunting. A bit of Delay also does the trick too.

Slow Country Ballad in D - 100bpm BackingTrackHQ

Slow Country Ballad in D is a nice easy going backing track.

Backing Track in G

‘Backing Track in G’ is a straightforward Rock track with just Drums and Bass. You can solo a G Major Pentatonic scale over it all day.

It lends itself nicely to a Rocky/Country type of feel on a guitar solo. Clean sound or slightly dirty. You can even squeeze in the famous ‘Sultans of Swing’ 16ths lick over it. Sounds a bit ‘corny’ true, but it opens up doors for other similar type licks based on chord arpeggios.

But we’ve chosen a different approach to demonstrate the possibilities here.

This example uses Timed Delays ala the Edge/U2 and Jonny Buckland/Coldplay.

The demo Guitar example turned into a fully fledged instrumental complete with a fancy name . Its called ‘In Love We Trust’. Sounds better than ‘The Backing Track in G Song’ .

Timed delay wise you can use a 410ms timed delay to get the effect needed.

‘E Ballad Rocky/Country Late Nite Backing Track’ is a track that was featured before on Backing Track HQ but it was in the key of ‘G’. This time we’re targeting the key of ‘E’.

Once again this backing track has got a bit of a ‘Late Nite’ vibe to it.

An E Major Pentatonic scale fits in well but watch and listen out for the ‘sneaky’ chord in there too. Switch to A Minor Pentatonic briefly.
